Relating Pictures and Words

Description

We seek to understand the relationship between the semantics of image-based information and associated textual information which may be available through annotations of the image. Our ultimate goal is to combine the information content from these different modalities and design retrieval algorithms. Our research has thus far explored how linguistic relationships can be used to improve the quality of image retrieval and focused on developing and evaluating cross-media retrieval strategies.
